Cosmetic Brow Tattoo: Are You a Good Candidate?
Thinking about getting a cosmetic brow tattoo? Here’s what you need to know before booking your appointment. While this treatment can be a great solution for many, certain conditions and circumstances may prevent you from being a candidate. Read on to see if you're eligible.
You Cannot Get a Cosmetic Brow Tattoo If You:
- Are under 18 years of age
- Have diabetes (unless you have doctor approval)
- Suffer from epilepsy
- Are prone to scarring or keloids
- Are taking anticoagulant medications (doctor approval needed)
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Have skin conditions like psoriasis in the brow area
- Have eczema, undiagnosed rashes, or blisters on the brow area
- Have allergies to makeup or pigments
- Experience post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
- Have communicable blood conditions like HIV or hepatitis
- Have active skin cancer in the treatment area
- Are undergoing cancer treatment or chemotherapy (doctor clearance required)
- Have had shingles in the brow area
- Recently had a brow lift or blepharoplasty (wait at least 3 months)
- Have conjunctivitis or any other eye infection (treatment must be completed)
- Are on thyroid medications (results may be unpredictable)
- Have very oily skin or large pores (consider Powder Brows, Digital Blading, or Hollywood Brows instead)
- Have mature skin – your eligibility depends on your skin’s condition (Powder Brows are often a better option)
If any of the above apply to you, it's best to consult with a professional or your doctor before proceeding. The right treatment plan is crucial for ensuring both your safety and beautiful, long-lasting results.

While an allergy patch test isn’t mandatory for everyone, it can be crucial if you have sensitive skin or a history of allergies. If you're concerned about potential reactions, scheduling a consultation and patch test is highly recommended.
Make sure to book your patch test at least 48 hours before your cosmetic brow tattoo appointment.
Have You Experienced Allergic Reactions to Any of the Following?
- Medications like Lidocaine, Tetracaine, Epinephrine, Dermacaine
- Ingredients like Benzyl Alcohol, Carbopol, Lecithin, Propylene Glycol, Vitamin E Acetate
- Substances such as Latex, Lanolin, Vaseline
- Everyday items like cosmetics, medication, hair dyes, paints, color pencils, glycerin
- Food, metals, or jewelry
If you answered YES to any of these, a consultation and allergy patch test is essential to ensure your safety and the best possible outcome.
- 03
A consultation appointment isn't required for everyone. However, it is highly recommended if you:
- Have specific questions that aren’t answered on our website.
- Have had previous tattoos or permanent makeup.
- Have sensitive skin or allergies.
What Does the Consultation Include?
During your consultation, we will:
Discuss Skin Conditions: We'll talk about your skin type and any conditions that may affect the procedure.
Determine the Best Treatment for You: We’ll assess which brow technique is ideal for you based on your needs and skin type.
Talk About Colors: We'll review color options and select the best shade for your brows.
Talk About Design: We’ll design your dream brows based on your facial structure.
Perform an Allergy Patch Test: For those with sensitive skin or allergy concerns.
To help us create your perfect brows, bring a photo of your ideal brow design. With brow mapping, we’ll see how the design can be adapted to suit your facial features.
Virtual Consultations Steps to Follow:
To facilitate the assessment process, I kindly ask you to take the following steps:
1. Capture Clear Eyebrow Pictures: Take pictures of your eyebrows from the right side, left side, and a full-face photo. No make up, clean face. It's best to have someone assist you in taking the photos to ensure clarity. Natural lighting is preferable as it helps me evaluate the details accurately. (no selfies)
2. Submit Your Photos: Send your pictures to me via text +1 915 443 2769 or via email hola@debibrows.com.
This will enable me to thoroughly evaluate what your eyebrows need. Or what your previous work looks like and discuss the possibilities for improvement or touch-up.
3. WhatsApp Communication: We will conduct the consultation via WhatsApp. Please download the app here in advance to be ready.
If an allergy patch test is required, we can send it to your address. Please note that this service incurs additional costs and needs to be scheduled at least 2 weeks before your treatment. Let us know if you’d like to proceed with a patch test.
- 04
No, your consultation and cosmetic brow tattoo appointment cannot be on the same day.
There needs to be a minimum interval of 2 days (48 hours) between the two appointments. This time is essential to allow for the results of the allergy patch test, which is performed during the consultation, to be fully evaluated.
You are welcome to schedule your appointments at your convenience, as long as the 48-hour interval is observed. This ensures that we have enough time to assess your patch test results and proceed with the brow tattoo safely.

If you have previously tattooed eyebrows, there are important factors to consider before booking a cosmetic brow tattoo. Here are the main concerns when working on pre-existing tattoos:
1. Limitations on Creative Freedom:
- I cannot undo what has already been done. While I will do my best to re-work the shape and correct the color, I must work within the boundaries of your existing shape. This limits my ability to create a fully customized brow design.
2. Pigment Absorption Issues:
- Scar tissue from previous tattoos, microblading, or tattoo removal can affect pigment absorption, leading to unpredictable results.
3. No Guaranteed Results:
- Due to the complications that arise from working on pre-tattooed brows, I cannot guarantee the final results. It’s important to understand this risk before proceeding.
4. Fading Requirement:
- Your previously tattooed or microbladed eyebrows must be at least 60% faded or barely visible for me to work on them. If the existing tattoo is too dark, a correction may not be possible.
Approval Process:
Before scheduling a treatment, you MUST get approval by submitting photos of your eyebrows:
- Photo Requirements:
- Take pictures of your eyebrows from the right side, left side, and full-face.
- Ensure your face is clean and makeup-free.
- Have someone assist you in taking the photos to ensure clarity.
- Use natural lighting (no selfies, indoor lights, or flash).
- Submission:
- Send your photos via text message +19154432769 or email to hola@debibrows.com. I will review them to determine if I can work with your previous tattoo and let you know if you're approved.
- Booking:
Once approved, book your appointment under Touch Up --> New Client: Touch Up. Please ensure that your previous permanent makeup has been approved before scheduling.
Important: If you arrive at your appointment with existing permanent makeup that was not disclosed or approved, I will be unable to proceed with your treatment. In this case, your deposit ($25) will not be refunded. Many previously tattooed brows cannot be covered or corrected, so pre-approval is essential. Thank you for your understanding.

Yes, cosmetic brow tattoos can be effective for covering or concealing scars! However, it’s essential to have a consultation before your appointment to assess the type of scar and determine the most suitable treatment.
Important Considerations:
Keloid Scars: These are not suitable for cosmetic brow tattoo treatments.
Fresh Scars: Avoid getting a brow tattoo over fresh scars, as they need time to heal properly.
During your consultation, we will review your scars and discuss the best approach to achieve the desired results.
